We reply to email within one business day. If a cashout can't close, put Cashout blocked and the restaurant name in the subject line so we see it first.

Please don't send passwords, connection tokens or logins, verification codes, or full card numbers by email. We will never ask for them.

Connect your systems

RTR reads from the point-of-sale, card-payment and scheduling systems each restaurant uses. An owner or administrator connects them one restaurant at a time in RTR's Connections screen.

Clover

RTR reads card payments and tips from each restaurant's Clover merchant account. The RTR app is a private Clover app: it isn't listed publicly in the Clover App Market, and you install it from RTR. Each restaurant (Clover merchant) is connected separately, by someone who can install apps on that merchant, usually the owner or an admin.

  1. Get your RTR account. We set up your organization and invite its owner. The owner adds franchise groups, restaurants and people.
  2. Sign in to RTR and open Connections.
  3. Choose the restaurant and select Connect Clover. You are sent to Clover to sign in.
  4. Review and approve the permissions. RTR asks only to read merchant details and payments, plus employee names if your organization turns that on. It asks for no permission to change anything in Clover.
  5. Return to RTR. Connections shows Clover as connected for that restaurant, and its recent Clover payments appear on the restaurant's payments screen. Repeat for each restaurant.

A Clover merchant can be connected to one RTR organization only. If RTR says the merchant is already connected elsewhere, contact us.

Auphan and 7shifts

An owner or administrator enters each restaurant's Auphan and 7shifts access in Connections. RTR checks the login with the vendor before saving it, stores it encrypted, and never shows it again. To change it, choose Replace; to stop RTR reading from that vendor, choose Disconnect.

If a vendor rejects a saved login, the connection is marked Needs attention and that restaurant's data stops updating until it is replaced. Nothing is read with a fallback login.

Disconnect or uninstall

Disconnect a system

In Connections, choose the restaurant and select Disconnect next to the system. RTR deletes the stored token or login and stops reading from that system. Records already read stay with your organization's records; see the data deletion page.

Uninstall the RTR app on Clover

To end the Clover app itself, uninstall it from that merchant in your Clover dashboard:

  1. Log in to your Clover dashboard with an account that has the Access App Market permission.
  2. From the left, select More > App Market, then My Apps.
  3. Find the RTR app and select Options > Uninstall app, then complete Clover's confirmation steps.

(Steps from Clover Help.) Clover tells RTR when the app is uninstalled. RTR stops reading immediately and deletes its Clover access for that merchant. Disconnecting Clover inside RTR stops RTR reading, but does not uninstall the app from Clover.

What happens to the data

After an uninstall you have a period to get a copy of your records, and then RTR permanently deletes the data it received from Clover for that merchant. The timeline is on our data deletion page.

Ending your RTR account

Email [email protected] from an owner or administrator address. We confirm the request, give you time to export what you need, and then delete your organization's data as described on the data deletion page.

Common questions

Can RTR change anything in Clover?

No. The RTR app asks Clover only for read permissions. It cannot create, edit or delete orders, payments, items, employees or settings.

What Clover data does RTR read, and why?

Merchant details, so each Clover account is linked to the right restaurant and business day; payments, including tips and limited card details such as card brand and last four digits, so card tips can be matched to shifts; and, only if your organization turns it on, employee names, so tips go to the right person. The full list is in the Clover section of our privacy policy.

Does RTR see or store full card numbers?

No. RTR does not receive or store full card numbers or card security codes.

How often does RTR read my data?

RTR reads the day's payments, cheques and punches to run each night's cashout. If a vendor is down or rejects a login, that restaurant's run fails and is flagged, and the data already stored is left as it was rather than filled with partial numbers.

Who in my organization can see cashout and tip records?

Only people your administrators invite, and only for their scope: head office for the organization, a franchisee for its own restaurants, a general manager for the restaurants they are assigned, and staff for their own records. One customer never sees another customer's data. See Security.

Where is my data stored?

RTR's main database is in Montreal, Canada. Some of our service providers process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Our privacy policy lists each provider and where it processes data.

What does it cost?

Pricing is per location, with no per-user fees. Book a demo and we will quote for your locations.

Do we need to mention RTR in our electronic monitoring policy?

In Ontario, employers with 25 or more employees must have a written policy on electronically monitoring employees. If your policy lists the tools you use, you can describe RTR like this: "Read The Room reads time punches, staff names and roles from 7shifts, and the cheques and card payments linked to each employee from our point of sale and Clover, to calculate tip cashouts."

I work at a restaurant that uses RTR. How do I see or correct my information?

Start with your manager or employer, who controls your restaurant's records. You can also contact our privacy officer using the details in our privacy policy, and we will help or direct your request to the right organization.

Is Read The Room made by Clover?

No. Read The Room is an independent product that connects to Clover. Clover provides its own support for Clover devices, accounts and payments.
